Dehradun News: A sensational case of rape of a 6 months pregnant Dalit woman has come to light in Dehradun. After the incident, an attempt was made to suppress the matter in the Panchayat and reach a settlement by paying Rs 1 lakh. Now the case is in the process of being transferred to the police and the Women’s Commission has also given instructions for strict action.
Dehradun: An incident has come to light from Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, which has shaken the entire area. A very shameful case of rape of a 6 months pregnant Dalit woman has come to light in Bijnu village of Chakrata area. The victim has alleged that a young man from the same village forcibly committed this heinous act on her.
The victim had come to celebrate Diwali with her husband.
The victim woman reached Chakrata tehsil on December 1 and filed a complaint and pleaded for justice. While giving the complaint, the woman said that she lives in Vikas Nagar with her family and had come to the village on November 21 to celebrate Budhi Diwali with her husband and children.
Pressure and attempt to compromise in Panchayat
The victim reached home and told the entire incident to her husband. After this, Panchayat was called in the village.
The woman says that during the Panchayat, pressure was put on her by the accused’s family to hush up the matter. Not only this, he was lured with Rs 1 lakh to remain silent and was also threatened with death.
Case registered against the accused
Naib Tehsildar Rajendra Shah said that on the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections. Since this is a serious matter related to crime against women, the process of transferring the case to the regular police is now underway.
Uttarakhand State Women Commission Chairperson Kusum Kandwal has also taken cognizance of this incident. He has instructed the Revenue Police to immediately hand over the case to the regular police, provide security to the victim and take strict action against the accused.
