Gumla Top 5 Shiva Temple: Actually, there are 5 major temples of Lord Shiva in Gumla district of Jharkhand. Among these temples, Tanginath Dham, Budhwa Mahadev Temple, Maha Sadashiv Temple, Devgaon and Kapilnath Temple are famous for their antiquity, mysterious sculptures and unique architecture.
Tanginath Dham is located in Dumri block of Gumla district. This is considered to be the penance place of Lord Parshuram. Tanginath Dham is situated on the top of the mountain amidst lush green trees and beautiful valleys all around. Here, Lord Shiva’s Shivalinga and Trishul and Lord Parashuram’s axe, are especially worshipped. The main feature of Tanginath is that since ancient times, Lord Shiva’s trident and Lord Parashuram’s ax have been buried in the ground under the open sky. How deep into the ground is it? This remains mysterious till today.
Budhwa Mahadev Temple is situated in Ward No. 16 Karamtoli of Gumla district headquarters. The history of this temple is more than 100 years old. The older this temple is, the more unique and strange its history is. According to folklore, a small Shivalinga was found in the hollow of a Peepal tree. Seeing the Shivalinga in the hollow of the tree, faith was aroused among the local people and the devotees have now given it the shape of a grand temple.
Maha Sadashiv Temple located in Marda village of Raidih block of Gumla is the most grand temple of the district. Mahadev with 26 faces and 52 arms resides here. There are also 84 other deities made of black stones. Its height is about 85 feet. Gumla has the first Maha Sadashiv temple of the state and the rare form of Lord Shiva is revered. It is believed that just by seeing this form of Lord Shiva, all the sins of humans are destroyed. Besides, various types of flowers, fruits and plants have been planted in the premises, which further enhance its beauty.

Devgaon situated in Tapkara Panchayat of Palkot block, which is in a cave under a huge rock. Earlier it was open, but now it has been given the form of a temple. Devgaon is very ancient and its story is very interesting. There are a large number of statues of gods and goddesses in Devgaon, which have been carved in stones. It is said that Lord Vishwakarma himself made it with his own hands. The family of Lord Bholenath lives here, hence it is called Devgaon. Here there are statues of Lord Ganesha, Bajrangbali, Nandi Baba, Bholenath, Nag Devta, Devi Maharani, Bhagwati Munni Mata, Surya Devta, Shiv Shakti, Gau Ganga Mata, Ganesh Kartik, Maa 10 Bhuji Maharani and other deities.
Kapilnath temple located in Nagar village of Sisai block of Gumla district, which is also known as Nagar temple. This is the first such temple in the district. Where you will get the darshan of Bhairav Baba along with Baba Shiva. This temple is unique, amazing and attractive to look at because it is made of stones. This temple was built by Nagvanshi king Ram Shah in Doisa in Samvat 1700 i.e. 1643 AD. The temple has two floors and is made of stones. Only a few bricks have been used in the upper part of the temple. There are beautiful carvings on the pillars of the temple and figures of horses and lions are carved in the inner ceiling of the dome.
