Bihar government has approved a 5% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), giving a New Year gift to lakhs of employees and pensioners. This increase will be effective from July 1, 2025. Under the Sixth Pay Commission, DA has now increased from 252% to 257%. Due to which the employees will also get their arrears.
Patna: Just before the New Year, the Bihar government has given a tremendous gift to lakhs of government employees and pensioners of the state. The Nitish Kumar-led NDA government has approved the proposal to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) of state employees by 5 percent. With this decision, there will be a bumper increase in the salary and pension of government employees.
Increased DA will be applicable from July 1, 2025
Under this decision of Nitish government, this 5% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) will be applicable from July 1, 2025.
New rates under Pay Commission:
- For those receiving salary/pension under 6th Pay Commission: Dearness allowance has been increased to 257% from the present 252%.
- For those receiving salary/pension under the Fifth Pay Commission: For these, DA-DR has been increased from 466% to 474%.
Lakhs of government employees of Bihar benefited
Due to this 5% increase in dearness allowance, the state employees will also get the arrears, which will bring a huge amount in their hands. This decision has brought great relief to lakhs of employees who were waiting for an increase in their salaries amid rising inflation. This step of the state government is expected to improve the standard of living of the employees of Bihar in the coming year.

Government employees have got a big gift in the cabinet meeting. The biggest decision was to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) of government employees and pensioners by 5 percent.
