Diabetes health tips: If these people are not cautious in the next five years, then 50 percent of them are at full risk of getting diabetes. Talking to Local 18, Dr. Ajay Tiwari, Associate Professor (Medicine), Hind Institute, says that after the age of 35, every person must get tested for pre-diabetes.
Ways to avoid sugar/Kanpur. People often consider diabetes to be an incurable disease, but doctors say that if precautions are taken at the right time, it can be prevented and controlled. The recent in-diab report of the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has raised alarm bells for UP. According to the report, about 18 percent people in the state (about five crore population) are suffering from intermediate hyperglycemia i.e. pre-diabetes. Fasting sugar up to 100 and after eating up to 140 is considered normal. Caution is necessary when HBV AC rises above 5.6. 11.9 percent of the total population in the country is suffering from diabetes, whereas in UP this figure is 4.8 percent.
Danger is increasing due to these things
Dr. Tiwari says that the ICMR report has also revealed that taking less sleep and skipping breakfast, both habits play a big role in increasing sugar. People who do not sleep for 6–8 hours daily and avoid breakfast, the risk of diabetes increases by 30 percent. Therefore, adequate sleep and morning breakfast should not be skipped under any circumstances. The body needs rest as well as energy. When there is less sleep or breakfast is not taken, hormonal changes begin to occur in the body, due to which the sugar level increases.
This change is necessary
According to doctors, it is not difficult to avoid pre-diabetes, only some changes will have to be made in lifestyle. Reduce weight by 6–8 percent. If you lose even a little weight, the chances of getting sugar will reduce. Eat more colorful vegetables and fruits. They provide vitamins, fiber and antioxidants to the body, which keeps sugar under control. Walk for 30 minutes five days a week. Walking briskly improves the insulin capacity of the body. Adopt exercises like squats, weight lifting, pushups. These activities keep sugar under control by strengthening the muscles of the body. Make sure to take 6–8 hours of sleep daily. It is very important for body repair and hormonal balance.
This is the biggest cure
Experts say that pre-diabetes is the last warning. If we become alert at this time, diabetes can be prevented, but if ignored, problems may increase in the future. Therefore, by adopting a little awareness, regular checkups, balanced diet and active lifestyle, sugar can be kept away from oneself.
