Sonbhadra Latest News: A case of religious conversion has come to light in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. 37 year old Ramshakal of Mayurpur left Hindu religion and adopted Muslim religion and now Mohd. Jahangir gives azaan in the mosque in the name of Ashraf, offers namaz and studies the Quran.
Sonbhadra: A controversial case of religious conversion has come to light in Duddhi tehsil area of Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. 37 year old Ramshakal, resident of Raspahari of Mayorpur block, has recently left Hinduism and converted to Muslim religion. Now his name is Mohd. Jahangir is Ashraf. They give azaan in the mosque, offer namaz regularly and also study the Quran. At the same time, he is married to a Muslim woman and they also have two children.
Ramshakal is the youngest among four brothers in his family and his father’s name is Jagarnath. Earlier he used to teach tuition to children in Babhni area. It is said that some time ago his health started deteriorating. After this, after coming in contact with some people, he went to a Dargah in Ambedkar Nagar district and converted to Muslim religion.
After returning home, Ramshakal made his home in village Kirwani and started working as muezzin in the mosque there. He also teaches Urdu and Persian to children. Ramshakal’s family and villagers are shocked by this sudden change. However, his family members also say that wherever and however Ramshakal is happy, that is good for him. Ramshakal himself has said that he took this decision of his own free will, not because of any fear or greed. Despite his personal decision, he has maintained respect for both the religions and also keeps Ramayana with him. Family member Sudama Prasad said that we do not have complete information about why and how Ramshakal changed his religion. This was his personal decision and now he lives in another village.
