Action Against IRCTC Accounts: To curb ticket booking with fake IDs, Railways has deactivated more than 3 crore IRCTC accounts. Apart from this, about 2.70 crore accounts have been temporarily suspended. Indian Railways has taken this step with the aim of making On Lite ticket booking easier and providing hassle-free tickets to genuine passengers.
IRCTC Accounts Deactivated: Whenever you open the IRCTC app to book a railway ticket, only two messages are seen written there. First – waiting list and second – sold out. The reason for this were those lakhs of ‘digital ghosts’, who used to grab all the tickets in seconds through bots. To control these ‘digital ghosts’, Indian Railways started laying a strong network of identity verification. This campaign of Railways bore fruit. Within no time, 3.03 crore ‘digital ghosts’ got trapped in the Railways’ net.
Actually, these digital ghosts are none other than those millions of fake IDs, whose control was in the hands of bots and brokers. As soon as the festival or holiday season arrived, these fake users used to grab all the tickets within seconds and then sell them in black at the desired price. To make ticket booking transparent, Railways started identity verification, so that genuine passengers can easily get tickets. During this campaign, Railways has identified more than 3.03 crore accounts created on fake IDs.
2.70 crore such user IDs suspended
Taking action against them, Railways has completely deactivated all 3.03 crore fake accounts. The campaign of Indian Railways did not stop here, rather 2.70 crore such user IDs were identified, whose identity the Railways has doubts about. Therefore, Railways has temporarily suspended this account also. According to the Railways, the effect of this campaign is that earlier, about one lakh new user IDs were created every day on the IRCTC app, most of which were fake, now their number has come down to only 5 thousand.

IRCTC is also taking some new steps to improve and strengthen the ticketing system, so that every passenger can book easily with just their original and verified ID.
