Muzaffarpur: Under the Student Credit Card Scheme, 2836 beneficiaries who did not pay the installments even after completing their studies by taking loan have been declared defaulters. Notice has been sent to all the defaulter beneficiaries by Bihar State Education Finance Corporation. If they do not respond within the prescribed time limit and do not complete the required process, action will be taken against them under certificate case (auctionism). According to the departmental information, there are many beneficiaries who have completed their intermediate, graduate, post-graduate or technical and professional courses by taking loan under the scheme, but even after the stipulated period has passed, they neither deposited the loan installment nor gave any information about their current status to the department.
According to the guidelines, after completion of studies, the beneficiaries have to repay the loan amount in 84 monthly installments. If necessary, there is also a provision for grace period as per the rules, but for this it is mandatory to give timely information to the department. Assistant Manager Alka Jha said that all such defaulter beneficiaries have been given the last opportunity to submit the affidavit till December 30. The department will start the process of auctioning those who do not submit the affidavit by the stipulated date. Once the certificate case is registered, the affidavit will not be accepted.

In the financial year, 4980 students of the district have been given the benefit of Student Credit Card Scheme. Under the scheme, a maximum loan of up to Rs 4 lakh is provided for all professional and technical education including graduation, post graduation, medical, engineering, ITI, B.Ed, law after intermediate. Apart from this, the process of loan approval is going on on about 500 new applications.
Manoj Kumar Pradhan, manager of District Registration and Counseling Centre, Sikandarpur, clarified that after December 30, the department will take strict action and certificate cases will be filed against the defaulting beneficiaries. He has appealed to all the concerned beneficiaries to contact the department by submitting the affidavit in time, so that legal action can be avoided.
