highlights

The price of Tata Motors’ Nexon EV starts from Rs. 14.99 lakhs.
The car can be run up to 312 km on a single charge.
There is a warranty of 8 years or 1.60 lakh kilometers for the battery.

Now the era of electric vehicles has started in India. In the last few years, the demand for electric cars and two-wheelers has increased rapidly. Keeping this demand in mind, now big vehicle companies are launching electric vehicles. Recently Indian car manufacturer Mahindra has launched its first electric SUV XUV400. It will take on the Tata Nexon EV, the best selling electric car in the country. There is not much difference in the prices of both.

The cost of electric cars available in India is currently much higher than petrol-diesel cars. That’s why it goes far away from the reach of common people. But the truth is that electric cars cost more once. After this only savings is savings. This saving is such that the Rs 17 lakh electric car Nexon EV will cost you only Rs 4 lakh. Here we explain the savings on electric car with a simple calculation.

First of all, know about Nexon EV
The price of Tata Motors’ Nexon EV starts from Rs. 14.99 lakhs. If we talk about its best selling model XZ+, then its price is Rs 16.50 lakh ex-showroom. Its on-road price is more than Rs. 17 lakhs. The car that comes with a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack can be run up to 312 km on a single charge. Apart from this, a lot of safety features and facilities are also available in the car. The car gets a warranty of 3 years or 1.25 lakh kms. The EV’s battery and electric motor get a warranty of 8 years or 1.60 lakh kms.

Now let’s talk about the subsidy on the car…
The Government of India is giving a subsidy of up to Rs 3 lakh on buying an electric car. Apart from this, you can save more about Rs 1.5 lakh in the form of tax. In this way, the total savings on buying an electric car goes up to Rs 4.5 lakh. From one point of view, this amount is not less. However, some things have to be kept in mind regarding the subsidy, because the subsidy given by the central government may be the same everywhere, but this subsidy is different in the states. Subsidy is not yet available in some states.

Now talking about the benefits available on Nexon EV…
The on-road price of the car in Delhi comes up to Rs.17.30 lakhs. It remains more in many states, but here we are talking about Delhi. Now the central government gives a rebate of about 3 lakhs and the state government about 1.15 rupees on this. The total exemption reaches above 4 lakhs. Accordingly, the car will cost us around Rs.13.50. If you are taking a loan on a car, you can save Rs 1.50 on the interest paid on the loan amount as per income tax rules. Now this car has become worth 12 lakh rupees. Even now this car must be looking expensive to you. So let’s make it cheaper.

In this way the car will be cheaper
The company claims that the running cost of the Nexon EV is Rs 1.6 per kilometer and the company is offering a warranty of 1,60,00 km on the battery. So according to this, it will cost around 2.52 thousand rupees to run 1.60 lakh km. On the other hand, the running cost of the petrol model of the Nexon is around Rs.7 per km. Assuming the price of petrol is Rs 96 per litre, then running 1.60 km will cost Rs 11.20 lakh. Accordingly, about Rs 8.7 lakh will be saved from the electric car. Now if you roughly remove Rs 8 lakh from Rs 12 lakh, then there will be a saving of around Rs 4 lakh. Currently, the price of Alto is more than Rs 4 lakh. Accordingly, it has become cheaper than Alto.
