A case of fraud in the name of fake government scheme has come to light in Koderma Sadar Hospital. The husband and wife were extorting Rs 500 each from pregnant women on the pretext of getting Rs 15 thousand on the birth of a girl and Rs 5 thousand on the birth of a boy.

Pregnant women and their families admitted in Sadar Hospital were being told by both the accused that a new scheme of the government has been started. Under this scheme, if a girl is born to a woman, then Rs 15,000 will be given in her account and on the birth of a boy, Rs 5,000 will be given. To receive this amount, women were being asked to first deposit Rs 500. On this pretext, the accused were roaming around in the wards of the hospital and collecting money.
Both were caught after the patient’s family became suspicious
The man and woman arrested in this case have been identified as Sanki Kumari and her husband Naresh Kumar, residents of Karma. The women admitted in Sadar Hospital told that both of them came to the ward and asked everyone to deposit Rs 500. When some women and their family members became suspicious about this, they immediately informed the hospital management. As soon as the information was received, the security personnel and management of the hospital showed promptness and caught both the accused.
Allegation of extorting money on the pretext of job
On being interrogated by the hospital management, Sanki Kumari and Naresh Kumar told that they had received calls from two women named Poonam and Sangeeta. The women who called had also taken Rs 20,000 from them on the pretext of providing them a job. It was also said that Rs 500-500 will be collected from the women coming for delivery in Sadar Hospital, in return for which they will be given a monthly salary. Due to this greed, the husband and wife got involved in this fraud.
Employees were alerted
In this regard, Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital, Dr. Ranjit Kumar said that such complaints were being received for the last three-four days. In view of this, the hospital staff and patients were already alerted that if any person talks about money transaction, they should immediately inform the hospital management. He said that as soon as this matter came to light. With the help of security guards, both the accused were caught and handed over to the police.
