Tata Electronics: Amidst the news of layoffs across the country, now a good news has come. It is being told that Tata Electronics is preparing to increase the number of people in its facility in Tamil Nadu. According to a report, after this hiring of the company, the number of employees in Hosur plant will increase from 60,000 to 75,000. This means that it is clear that preparations are underway to hire 15,000 new employees.
Why will so many people be hired?
Actually, iPhone manufacturing company Apple is trying to meet its increasing demand. To speed up the work, plans are being made to employ more people in the unit. Tata wants to have the same number of employees as Foxconn, Apple’s largest contract manufacturer in India. Many parts of iPhone are assembled in this Hosur plant of Tata. Earlier, iPhone cases or covers were made here.
Apple production increasing in the country
It has been informed in a report that the scope of work in the plant is being expanded rapidly because Tata Electronics is emphasizing on increasing electronics manufacturing services due to the increasing production of Apple in the country. According to data given in an ET report in October, Apple iPhone exports from India have reached a record $10 billion in the first six months of the current financial year, which is 75 percent more than $5.71 billion at the same time last year.
Can’t find capable people
Despite this growth, finding capable workers is proving difficult. “Tata Electronics is finding it difficult to find enough skilled manpower,” one person said. As the scale is getting bigger, they are realizing that they have to think more about other factors like manpower, water, electricity etc. “Especially the talent part needs to be sorted out because customer traction and other factors are very strong,” the source said.
