The video of a delivery partner named ‘Thapaliyal Ji’ has become a topic of discussion. In this video of the month of September, when Thapliyal opened the diary of his one day’s earnings, people were stunned. He told that from morning till night, he rode the bike for a total of 15 hours. During this period he delivered 28 orders. After so much hard work and hustle, when he saw his earnings, the figure on the app was only ₹763. The screenshot shown in the video shows that he received only ₹15.83 from the company for delivering the last order of the day. Imagine, if even after 15 hours of running around one does not get even Rs 800 in his hand, how will a person run his household in this era of inflation?
‘This is not business, this is exploitation’
As soon as this video went viral, people got angry. This video was a ‘reality check’ for those who view Quick Commerce only from the perspective of convenience. Netizens termed it as “blatant exploitation of cheap human labour”. Tagging Blinkit, an Instagram user asked a sharp question, “Who will take responsibility for the life and safety of the workers who deliver goods in the blink of an eye? Do justice to your workers.”
