Bilaspur News: Filled with grief and sorrow, the elderly husband and wife once again reached the Collector’s office. The woman cried bitterly in front of the media. Collector Sanjay Aggarwal immediately sought information about the matter from the Tehsildar and asked the couple to present the land papers.
Bilaspur. An elderly couple in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh has been wandering from door to door for justice for the last 14 years. Now they are completely broken while fighting against the encroachment of their own ancestors’ land. The situation has become such that people have to reach the collector’s office by selling even PDS rice to survive. When there was no relief even after hours of standing at the doorstep from the administration to the police, they once again reached the collector’s office and while narrating their plight, the elderly woman burst into tears.
87-year-old Dhwajaram Navrang and his wife, residents of village Darrabhatha of Sipat police station area, have been fighting to free their land from encroachment for the last 14 years. Now both of them have become so helpless in their search for justice that they reach the collector’s office by selling PDS rice.
took advantage of being without an heir
The elderly couple told Local 18 that they own a total of 22 decimals of land. Since he had no heir, his neighbor Govind asked him for some place to live. Showing mercy, the elders gave him 10 decimal land.
Allegations of threat and assault
According to the couple, Govind has now started trying to capture the remaining 12 decimal land. When he protested, he was beaten, threatened and subjected to continuous mental torture.
Police station, tehsil, collectorate…hearing was not held anywhere
The couple complained several times from the police station to the tehsil and the collectorate, but received disappointment from everywhere. Both the police station and the tehsildar did not take his complaint seriously.

After the matter was raised by the media, the Collector assured the elderly couple of appropriate action. Now there is hope for justice among the elderly couple who were wandering for 14 years.
