According to a committee of doctors who conducted the postmortem, the police had brought the heads of 10 dead people, the torsos of two others and an almost complete body to the mortuary. Whereas the rest of the bag contained only small, badly burnt remains. Officials said that postmortem of all the remains is being done and the report is being prepared.
Mathura accident issue raised in Rajya Sabha
On Wednesday, in the Rajya Sabha, the issue of death of 18 people due to collision between vehicles on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura on Tuesday was raised and concern was expressed that the ambulance reached the accident site after an hour. Congress’s Pramod Tiwari raised this issue while asking a supplementary question in the Upper House on Wednesday and wanted to know from the government what is the government’s policy regarding road safety.
‘Not so many people die in riots’
In response to this, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he completely agrees with the sentiment of the member in this matter. He said that every year five lakh accidents occur in India in which about one lakh 80 thousand deaths occur. He said that 64 percent of the people who die in such accidents are in the age group of 18 to 34 years. He said that it is such a terrible thing that so many people do not die even in riots and fights.
‘Measures were taken but no success was achieved’
Gadkari said that the government took many measures to stop it but did not achieve much success. He said that the biggest problem in such cases is human behavior. He said that in case of road accidents, ambulance should reach the accident spot within ten minutes. He said that the government will declare the person who takes such accident victims to the hospital as a traveler and will give a reward of Rs 25,000. Also, the hospital to which he will be taken will be given Rs 1.5 lakh as expenses for a minimum of seven days.
